Noun. 1. a simple camera in which an aperture provided by a pinhole in an opaque diaphragm is used in place of a lens.
Pinhole introduction
A pinhole camera is a simplistic camera that anyone can make from materials at home, thats most likely why this was chosen as a first extended inquiry for photography.
How to make a pinhole camera?
Some materials you will need to make your own pinhole camera:
A box of any size
Black paint
Black tape
Aluminum (E.g: a can)
Scissors
Once you collect these materials you need to get some light sensitive photography paper. Firstly you start off my spray painting the box of your choosing so its as dark inside as possible, cover any holes that light could seep through with the black tape. Once you're content with the darkness of your box, cut a hole about 4cm x 5cm (depended upon the size of the box). After you had done this, you cut a piece of aluminum roughly the same size as the square hole you had cut. Once this is done and you're okay with the size of it, you stick a pinhole through the centre of the aluminum and sand it down so its smooth on the face, then you tape it on the inside facing outward of the hole, make sure no light can escape minus the pinhole.
My own pinhole camera.
As a home project, I made my own pinhole camera. I know, I know, I made my own camera, at home?! Crazy right! Well, not really, buuuut it is still pretty cool.
Though it is super rad and all, I feel as if i still have quite a bit to improve on. After i took these pictures i painted the inside black so there was no light at all and it was as dark as possible, so that's an improvement. If I got another chance to make another camera i would've probably used a smaller box, and got more tape so no light at all got in. And after testing my camera, it came to my attention that I made the pinhole way too big.. because my picture came out as just a massive black splodge. Apart from that overall it was a good first attempt, bare in mind that this is my first time ever making a pinhole camera... or any camera for that fact.
